True to ourselves, we’ve been getting busy and gave our best to suprise you with an amazing christmas promo-piece.
So be sure to check your mail and emails for your wishes from Made of Stills

A while ago, I had the chance to work with graphic designer Max Harvey and clothes designer Isabelle Campeau on a project called Diploma.
Isabelle and Max came with the idea of creating conceptual clothes inspired from objects from everyday life. To show the concept of the clothes, we decided to build a whole room so we could illustrate both aspect, the clothes as garment and as useful objects as well.
As the project was more an experiment than anything else, the final product was printed in a unique book and now some images are available on Max Harvey’s website.
Take a quick look here, or watch the whole project on Cynicalisme.info

This is a small post, rather irrelevant, but I really want to say: never underestimate the power of a (good) assistant.
Having an assistant on a shoot means:
- not thinking about carrying gear
- more time to talk with you client
- not being the one who’s on the floor fixing stuff (yes that happens) and running around to get what’s missing
- having someone to do the stand in when you’re doing your setup (instead of having your model/client waiting for you to tune your lights)
- having someone you can talk with and discuss what’s going on before, during and after a shoot. (I mean, it’s always nice to grab a beer when everything is wrapped up right?)
When I started shooting for Nightlife I was running on all jobs pretty much by myself, but now, as I do more work and shoot more “important” personnalities I realized how important an assistant is.
Remember, sometimes being a photographer is more about what you look like and how you interact with people than about the final images you have.
And as stupid as this looks, having someone that works for you on a shoot can help gain the trust of a model or a client.
Never underestimate the power of your personnal work.
Two days ago I’ve been contacted by Presse Café (who’s campain have been done by Simon Duhamel) to participate on a new magazine they will be launching in less than a month.
What got me the job? Well first of all, a good network of friends who know my work, and this serie I’ve been working on in my free time last fall.
When art director Véronique Boisjoly decided she would like to have pictures of local artists in her Presse Café, these images convinced her I would be a good fit for the job.
Now you guys just have to wait to see which artist it was… until then, what about a nice cup of coffee?
First of all, thanks to all of you who were there on friday. Je voudrais pas parler à travers mon chapeau but I think we had over 200 people there. Ok maybe 150. Who knows. Our studio was wonderfully decorated with pieces from local artists like Josianne Poirier, Jérôme Mireault, Dan Popa, Pascal Brousseau, Isabelle Malenfant and Anna Binta Diallo. We were even able to get a nice sponsorship from Dieu du Ciel who were kind enough to help us on our very last minute request.
So there we go with the only three pictures we took (if you have any please don’t be shy and share) and a big thanks, again, to all of you.

Hope to see you all again soon.
Pour ceux qui sont venus hier et qui se demandaient de quoi avait l’air nos installations de l’extérieur voici un vidéo fait la veille de notre lancement.
Un gros merci à Élisabeth pour la réalisation des stencils format géants.
Made of stills – Stencils from Made of Stills on Vimeo.
